With Summer coming to an end, the Threads felting season is set to kick off with a flurry of activity starting next weekend: nuno scarf workshop on the 7th if you have ever been tempted to try felting, this class may turn you to the “dark side” – or at least give you a wonderful sense of “creative genius” when you finish the class with a felted silk and wool piece of splendour.
If you already have an addiction to felting, or want to expand your felting skills, then Raewyn Penrose’s three day garment workshop is the perfect way to felt felt felt to your heart’s content. If you want to learn about simple pattern design, felting using prefelts, embellishing, resists, incorporating fabric, using silk fibre and more PLUS having a whole heap of fun – then this three day class over two weekends is a must!
Due by popular demand we will be conducting additional felting classes with Raewyn, check out the calendar of events for more details on the workshops.
Just two more things in this bumper newsletter edition... our Autumn Knit A Long is also starting next weekend – Sunday @ 1pm ish ... I have been waiting for this KAL for a while ... my favourite yarn Alpaca Silk from Blue Sky Alpaca knitted into a simple yet gorgeous rectangle shawl with a diagonal eyelet repeat. We have had a great time on Sunday afternoons at the store, and are looking forward to kicking off a new project and welcoming new KALers who have already signed up for our Autumn project. All the details can be found on the blog ... but be quick – we cast on Sunday the 7th.
Finally, we are really excited to announce our first class with Rian Anderson will commence the 17th April. What are we learning you ask?? Well, it’s super soft, super light and extremely pretty – Elizabeth Freeman‘s Aeolian Shawl knitted in Malabrigo Lace 100% Baby Merino. When I first found this yarn, I just had to have it! Soft and squishy, millions of colours, so many metres, it’s amazing and it doesn’t cost the earth! The Malabrigo knitted into the Aeolian Shawl is simply beautiful and if you are ready to try lace knitting then there is no better way to try than with gorgeous yarn and a great mentor. Three classes over a couple of months to give you time to knit beautiful lace and absorb all the interesting things you learn in a the workshop. All the details can be fo und here. And you can preorder your Malabrigo shawl yarn here [if you preorder online, the cost of the yarn will be deducted from the workshop price].
Looking forward to seeing you soon, until then - happy knitting!
